Invest Detroit and the City of Detroit Planning and Development Department invites residents from the Warrendale and Cody-Rouge areas for an all-day event on Saturday, July 14, to hear ideas from five design teams pitching the City on ideas for child-centered development in the neighborhoods.
From 8:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., each of the five teams will have a 40-minute presentation on their ideas to make the neighborhoods more amenable to families. There will be a 15-minute question-and-answer session following each presentation.
The Neighborhoods and Eastern Market teamed up this year for Detroit’s Best Home Cook, a cooking contest where amateur chefs had to use local ingredients to craft their favorite dish for a panel of judges. See a video of the contest here, also airing on Comcast Channel 21.

For our inaugural Detroit’s Best Home Cook contest, we have two sweet entries from two young Detroiters who are also trying to give back to their communities.
At The Neighborhoods, we’re interested in hearing from everybody in Detroit about what matters most to you.
Do you have a story to tell about what your community group is doing in the neighborhood? Tell us.
