Tonight, Mayor Mike Duggan will give citizens of Detroit updates on the work his administration has done during the 2020 State of the City address. One of the main areas of focus will be the growth in economic development in 2019. A huge driving force of the growth is the mayor's Motor City Match program. Here are some of the program highlights from last year:
29 – the number of MCM businesses that opened in 2019
98 — the number of Motor City Match winners fully operating brick and mortar businesses across Detroit
246 – the number of home-based businesses MCM has activated, assisted, or expanded
138 – the number of MCM businesses doing pop-ups or operating in temporary commercial spaces – coworking, shared space, and short-term production or kitchen space
57 — the number of Motor City Match winners currently under construction
34 — the number of Motor City Match winners coming soon
81 percent — the number of Motor City Match businesses owned by people of color
71 percent — the number of Motor City Match businesses owned by women
